Role Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical and adaptable Senior Finance Manager to join the team on a project basis. This role is uniquely positioned to balance the stability of our day-to-day financial operations with the agility required to drive key strategic initiatives. You will act as a bridge between maintaining rigorous financial controls and leading the financial workstreams for new business projects, system implementations, and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Finance Business As Usual (BAU) – Stability & Control
- Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of accurate monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and financial packs for the leadership team.
- Operational Management: Supervise the core finance functions (AP, AR, Payroll) to ensure smooth month-end and year-end close processes.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure strict adherence to local statutory requirements, tax filings (GST/VAT), and internal controls.
- Stakeholder Management: Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, and bankers to ensure all compliance deadlines are met.
2. Project Management & New Initiatives – Change & Growth
- Project Financial Lead: Act as the finance representative for key organizational projects (e.g., system migrations, market expansion, new product launches).
- Business Case Development: Partner with project sponsors to develop financial models, cost-benefit analyses, and ROI tracking for proposed new initiatives.
- Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in current finance workflows and lead initiatives to automate or streamline them (e.g., implementing new software, reducing manual reporting).
- Integration: Ensure that the financial outcomes of new projects are successfully integrated into the BAU framework post-launch.
3. Strategic Ad Hoc Support
- Provide ad-hoc financial modelling and deep-dive analysis to support the executive team on urgent business decisions.
- Troubleshoot complex accounting issues or legacy data problems that arise during transitional periods.
Qualifications & Experience
- Professional Qualification: CA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or MBA (Finance).
- Experience: Minimum 6-8 years of progressive finance experience, ideally with a mix of Big 4 / Audit background and commercial experience. SFC type 1 experience preferred.
- Project Exposure: Proven track record of managing or participating in finance-related projects (ERP implementation, M&A integration, or process re-engineering).
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, complex modeling) and experience with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Xero).
Key Competencies
- Duality of Mindset: Ability to switch between the "guardrails" of compliance and the "blue-sky" thinking of project development.
- Change Management: Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving change in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication: Ability to translate complex financial data into business insights for non-finance project stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: Proactive in identifying risks to both BAU and project timelines and proposing solutions.
