We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Paralegal / Legal Assistant to join our legal team. In this role, you will provide administrative, legal research, and operational support to our Legal Counsel, with a focus on cross-border payment operations, Fintech compliance, and corporate maintenance. This is a great opportunity for junior legal professionals to gain hands-on experience in the fast-growing Fintech industry.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Licensing & Regulatory Support
- Conduct legal and regulatory research under the direction of Legal Counsel regarding payments, Fintech, and emerging Web3 developments.
- Assist with licensing maintenance and regulatory filings, including gathering documentation, tracking renewal deadlines, and maintaining filing records for Hong Kong (e.g., MSO) and overseas licenses.
- Help collate materials and draft initial administrative responses for regulatory inquiries from HK Customs, HKMA, SFC, or overseas bodies.
2. Contract & Document Management
- Assist in reviewing and drafting standard agreements (such as NDAs, standard vendor contracts, and basic service templates) using company guidelines and master templates.
- Manage contract lifecycle and repository, ensuring proper approval routing, e-signatures, filing, and tracking of key renewal dates.
- Assist Legal Counsel in cross-referencing and proofreading contract terms.
3. Dispute & Case File Preparation
- Gather facts, conduct preliminary research, and prepare case files for legal disputes, customer complaints, or internal reviews.
- Coordinate with external law firms, including tracking engagement letters, managing legal fee billing, and organizing external advice.
4. Corporate Governance & Legal Operations
- Assist with corporate secretarial matters, including preparing initial drafts of board resolutions, maintaining corporate registry documents, and organizing company secretarial files.
- Provide ad-hoc administrative and operational support to the Legal & Compliance team.
Requirements:
- Education:
- Degree in Law (LL.B., JD, or equivalent legal studies).
- Professional legal qualification (e.g., HK Bar/Solicitor) is NOT required.
- Experience:
- 1–3 years of experience as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or Legal Intern in a law firm or in-house legal department.
- Prior exposure to Fintech, financial services, or cross-border payment systems is a plus, but not essential.
- Technical Skills:
- Basic knowledge of contract structures and legal research tools.
- Familiarity with Hong Kong MSO regulations or general payment compliance is an advantage.
- Personal Attributes:
- High level of accuracy, strong organizational skills, and great attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with a strong willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Languages:
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Chinese (both Mandarin and Cantonese) for daily document handling and internal communication.
